Nature gives us so many treasures that are perfect for our bodies – both internally and externally. We have listed our favorites and advice on how to use them.
Coconut Oil
When it comes to coconut oil, it is very important to only use native, organic, cold-pressed oil from sustainable cultivation.
Coconut oil is heavenly for the skin; it provides moisture and has an antibacterial effect. Due to these antibacterial properties, coconut oil is also perfect for ‘oil pulling’, a detoxification of the mouth, where you simply draw a spoonful of oil back and forth in your mouth for 20 minutes.
Shea Butter
Shea butter is obtained from the nuts of the karité tree and provides excellent natural moisture; it also has a natural sun protection factor that protects the skin.
Cocoa Butter
Here, too, pay attention to the origin and labels.
Like coconut oil, cocoa butter is high in saturated fat, but has a higher melting point. Moisturizes, nourishes and protects the skin – perfect for lotions, creams and lip balms.
Honey
The queen of body care. Honey has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, so it disinfects and cleanses delicate facial skin. It does this very gently, due to its pH value, which is very similar to that of the skin and thus does not attack the skin’s protective acid mantle.
Honey is a perfect moisturizer for hair, body and face. So put it in the bath water, on your lips or in your hair. For a hair treatment, it is best to combine it with a moisturizing oil (e.g. almond) and leave it on before washing. Another idea: a honey massage, so that the honey can really work deeply.
Baking soda
Perfect as a non-toxic cleaning agent, but also as a toothpaste, mouthwash, or deodorant, it neutralizes acids and odors and dissolves stains.
Brown Sugar
The sugar crystals are water soluble, so brown sugar is perfect as a body scrub. Simply mix a bit of brown sugar with natural or essential oil and scrub your whole body with it.
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil comes from the North American jojoba plant and is similar to natural skin fat, making it very nourishing. Suitable for cleansing and moisturizing your face.
Olive Oil
Pure olive oil can clog the pores because it is moisturizing; it is better to use olive oil soap. Pure olive oil is perfect for a peeling in combination with brown sugar (see above), or as an intensive face mask, combined with honey and egg white or quark.
